Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Specialist to join our team at Astaras, a leading provider of private-label welding products. The ideal candidate will manage procurement activities, maintain strong supplier relationships, and ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and components necessary for our operations. Other duties are outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and procure industrial components and materials to meet production and operational needs for Astaras in North America (Primarily USA and Canada).
- Ensure purchases align with company policies and budgetary constraints.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Resolve supplier issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, or pricing discrepancies.
- Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and update stakeholders on order status.
- Review and negotiate pricing to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct regular market research to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing records, including purchase orders, invoices, and supplier agreements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-3 years in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software/ERP systems.
- Attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess costs and benefits.
