BASF is a nonprofit organization and the oldest voluntary bar association in California. Today, over 8,000 San Francisco lawyers are members of BASF, which prides itself as being one of the most active and innovative local bar associations. Our offices are located in the Financial District. In addition to services and benefits to our members, BASF provides a variety of legal services to San Francisco residents including our Lawyer Referral and Information Service, Alternative Dispute Resolution, the Homeless Advocacy Project, and the Volunteer Legal Services Program which is the largest provider of legal services to San Franciscans.


BASF also offers a variety of charitable programs, including Food from the Bar, Head Start Holiday Gift Program, Law Academy, School-To-College, Destination Law School and the Minority Law Student Scholarship programs.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years as a senior management team member
  • Executive level experience in a complex organization with demonstrated record of consensus-driven and strong deadline-driven decision management skills
  • Demonstrated success in implementing broad improvements in financial and administrative support services
  • Demonstrated success in working closely and building relationships with other staff members and with Boards of Directors and Board Committee members, including making presentations to Board and Board committees
  • Non-profit finance experience strongly preferred


SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, including the management of time- and purpose-restricted assets in a nonprofit accounting environment
  • Strong leadership, organizational and managerial skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and set and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to identify challenges proactively, think creatively and strategically about alternatives, identify and evaluate options, and clearly propose solutions; ability to exercise good judgment in presenting, implementing and applying options and policies appropriately
  • Ability to effectively manage an organization’s finances to rapidly adapt to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated track record of producing accurate, complete, and timely financial documents, including written analyses and reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex matters in a simple, understandable manner and work effectively with individuals with differing levels of financial sophistication and information needs
  • Ability and willingness to perform hands-on accounting and finance functions as necessary
  • Ability to work well with diverse internal and external constituencies (e.g. staff, consultants/vendors, Board Members, BASF members, government/regulatory contacts)
  • Ability to be self-directed and resourceful with high ethical standards
  • Knowledge of human capital and employment issues in California
  • Knowledge of facilities functions and leasing requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office ((Word, Excel, Outlook); financial/database software proficiency a plus
