Overview:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager - Construction / Capital Equipment plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of datacenter construction projects by strategically sourcing and managing MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) components and services. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.


Responsibilities:


Develop and Implement Sourcing Strategies:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for MEP components and services, including but not limited to HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing fixtures, and fire protection systems.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, capacity, and pricing.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and optimal contract terms.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and audits to assess compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with supplier performance and supply chain disruptions.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives to optimize procurement costs without compromising quality or reliability.
  • Track and analyze procurement spend to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that procurement decisions align with project budgets and timelines.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and enforce quality standards for MEP components and services to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company requirements.
  • Conduct quality inspections and audits of supplier products and services to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures to mitigate risks and prevent defects.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with procurement activities, such as supplier bankruptcy, supply chain disruptions, and quality issues.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of potential risks on project delivery.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals to ensure effective execution of sourcing activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in developing their skills and knowledge.




Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sourcing and procurement
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and components, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Proven track record of negotiating favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
