We are seeking candidates for the position of Virtual Police Supervisor (6050) in the Transit Police/Office of Professional Responsibility.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Serve as a member of the Transit Police tasked with supervising the monitoring of close circuit TV cameras which oversee the system. Supervisors will ensure video searches are conducted for incidents that might require police response. The virtual patrol supervisor will effectively manage staff through respectful communication, clear expectations, relevant training, productive coaching, and appropriate performance management ensuring the safety of our customers and employees. This employee will also be responsible for a myriad of tasks related to the preservation of recorded video; identify police actions recorded on video that require further follow up to determine whether wrongdoing occurred and identify police actions recorded on video that display exceptional performance to be used for public display and training.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates virtual patrol schedules, reviews and approves timesheets. Trains and develops staff in identifying behavior that endangers the safety of customers and employees. Prepares daily work assignments. Assists in the tracking of criminal suspects. Reviews CCTV footage as needed. Monitors and evaluates employees’ work. Disseminates information to staff in regard to post orders, revisions and daily event and non-event needs. Performs activities relevant to maintaining the professional standards of the Transit Police Department. Assists and prepares reports related to quality control and Internal Affairs investigations. Performs other duties as required by Police Supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ten (10) years’ experience in security and safety required.
  • Must possess sound Leadership and managerial skills.
  • Must possess Intermediate PC skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must understand the need for confidentiality and must possess experience in a work environment that requires the protection of information and data.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills plus the ability to manage competing tasks and multiple simultaneous assignments.
  • Experience and/or training in intelligence gathering required.
  • Annual execution of confidentiality agreement required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Exceptional understanding of Pennsylvania law and criminal procedure required.
  • Ability to quickly learn the policies and procedures of the SEPTA Transit Police Department required.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Previous law enforcement/criminal justice preferred.
  • Familiarity with Genetec video surveillance system preferred.
Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
