Location: Fort Worth, TX (Onsite 100% until ramped; hybrid possible afterward)

Duration: Long-term contract with right to hire

Pay Rate: $45-48/hr W2 Max


**Functional Testing on .NET applications/ embedded Linux Software.


As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will join a dynamic software development team focused on implementing and testing applications for Positive Train Control (PTC), a real-time messaging-based safety system. You’ll work with a mix of .NET applications, ASP.NET websites, and embedded Linux software to ensure high-quality standards in PTC systems. This role requires designing and executing tests, troubleshooting, managing lab infrastructure, and overseeing software configuration. The team environment is fast-paced, technically complex, and centered on collaboration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct manual testing on desktop applications, ASP.NET websites, and embedded Linux systems.
  • Collaborate with QA leads and development teams to define test requirements and cases based on user stories.
  • Execute test cases and analyze results for defect root cause.
  • Maintain and monitor lab infrastructure, including software builds and deployment.
  • Support software configuration management activities (e.g., make and deploy builds).
  • Document testing processes, configurations, and findings effectively.
  • Provide production support and manage defect resolution.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years in software quality assurance, including test planning and case execution.
  • 3+ years’ experience with manual test cases, specifically for desktop applications and websites.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in analyzing logs and message flows.
  • Experience with configuration management (Trunk/main, branches).
  • Experience in Azure DevOps (pipelines, test plans, test case execution, defect management).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive QA process improvements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with limited direction.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation testing tools like UFT.
  • Knowledge of SQL (preferably MS-SQL), SharePoint, and Linux.
  • Prior experience in the railroad industry is a plus.


Educational Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Candidates with substantial professional experience but without a degree may be considered.

  • Onsite Requirement: 100% onsite initially; hybrid options may be available after ramp-up.
