Other general responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform advanced energy modeling analysis for high-rise commercial and residential buildings, primarily using DOE 2.2 or Energy Plus in accordance with ASHRAE Standards.
  • Model building HVAC systems, including chilled water, hot water, DX, rooftop units, evaporative cooling, constant air, and variable air volume systems.
  • Document modeling methods, assumptions, and results.
  • Execute energy auditing, benchmarking, data gathering, and measurement & verification.
  • Analyze energy savings and lifecycle costs of energy-saving measures related to building envelope, lighting, HVAC, plug loads, and building energy management systems.
  • Perform engineering-based calculations in Excel.
  • Develop and write reports detailing building components and recommending energy efficiency measures to enhance design and control in new and existing facilities.
  • Conduct quality checks and quality assurance on tasks performed by team members.
  • Provide feedback to project teams on cost-effective strategies for improving building energy performance and sustainability.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, Physics, or Architecture.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) accreditation is highly desirable, either upon joining or with plans to achieve in the near future.
  • A minimum of three years of consulting experience in energy analysis for U.S.-based projects (note: university coursework does not meet this requirement).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the New York State and NYC Energy Code.
  • Familiarity with Passive House International (PHI) and/or Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) certification systems and relevant tools (e.g., PHPP, WUFI Passive) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Proven project management abilities.
  • Ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders (clients, design partners).
  • Strong knowledge of energy efficiency in large, complex buildings.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software, DOE 2.2 or Energy Plus; primary IES knowledge may be acceptable if complemented by DOE 2.2 knowledge. Note: Experience with Train/Trace, Carrier/HAP, and/or eQuest is insufficient.
  • Experience with architectural energy modeling using THERM, WUFI, and CFD software is a plus. Knowledge of architectural detailing and software platforms is helpful, but training will be provided if necessary.
