Role Overview

As a software engineer at Hedgineer, you will build and maintain the systems that empower sophisticated risk and research-focused hedge funds. Your role encompasses expert software development, seamless client integration, and strategic contributions to our core product.


Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineers design and optimize distributed systems, focusing on cloud infrastructure management, AI infrastructure for inference and fine tuning, optimizations, advanced security protocols, scaling distributed systems, and the appropriate application of database technologies for OLAP and OLTP workflows. Platform engineers at Hedgineer are responsible for building infrastructure that scales across all client organizations, often by architecting intelligent solutions to challenging problems.


Forward-Deployed Engineers (FDEs) take charge of end-to-end software integration for clients, guaranteeing a seamless transition and effective utilization of the Hedgineer platform within their operations. FDEs have to wear multiple hats, from solutions engineering, software deployment, and client account management. If you are a software engineer who loves working with clients, this role is for you. You must have experience with financial markets for this role.


Requirements

Platform Engineer

  • 2-5 years of experience working in software engineering.
  • Proficient in designing and managing both high-load OLAP and transactional OLTP systems.
  • Deep understanding of when to use various database technologies and how to optimize data handling and storage for both analytical and transactional systems.
  • Insatiable interest in applying AI, familiar with AI orchestration tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, GraphRAG, LLMLite, and OpenRouter.
  • Familiar with how fine-tuning works and have experimented with both open-source and proprietary models.
  • Experience with various prompt techniques and have used function and tool invocations with LLMs.
  • Strong skills in public cloud orchestration on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Proficient with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, build systems, test systems, and implementing SDLC best practices.
  • Good math skills with a keen interest in developing further knowledge in risk and research analytics specific to asset management.
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development in emerging technologies and platform innovations.
  • Experience with event-based architectures for data processing and analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams. Must demonstrate strategic thinking with a capability to contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions.


Forward-Deployed Engineer

  • 2-5 years of experience working in software engineering.
  • Exceptional programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Expertise with data manipulation libraries such as pandas or polars.
  • Familiarity with event-based data architectures.
  • Insatiable interest in applying AI, familiar with AI orchestration tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, GraphRAG, LLMLite, and OpenRouter.
  • Experience with various prompt techniques and have used function and tool invocations with LLMs.
  • The ability to employ AI tools innovatively in your work, with a proven track record of integrating AI into existing workflows to enhance client strategies and solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with hedge fund executives, including managers, analysts, and C-suite officers, conveying complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Exposure to analytics in the financial domain or working with hedge funds/asset managers.
