Job Overview: The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing pre-importation reviews, post-importation audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, tariffs, and associated risk mitigation strategies. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, this role collaborates with various departments, including Logistics, Procurement, Product, Quality, Legal, Accounting, and Transportation, to ensure compliance with applicable import regulations, supply chain security, and UFLPA (Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act) guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide compliance guidance and mitigate risks and costs related to imports, including product classification, country of origin determination, trade agreements, marking, labeling (product and packaging), and transportation requirements, in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and other relevant laws.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment of product-related import data across all systems.
  • Conduct audits and evaluate internal procedures to maintain CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) Trade Compliance program status.
  • Support Import Operations and transactions related to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGA).
  • Stay informed of changes to U.S. Customs and other government agency regulations impacting import compliance.
  • Maintain and develop compliance tracking tools and documented procedures.
  • Interpret and analyze complex regulatory documents to ensure accurate application of trade compliance measures.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with customs brokers and/or importers (experience with both preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), CBP directives, and bulletins.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the import process, including shipping, entry, and post-entry procedures.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large datasets using spreadsheet tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.


Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, International Business, or related field highly preferred.
