ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Junior Estimator is an integral member of the Estimating and Contracting team, working closely under the guidance of the Senior Estimator. Key responsibilities include issuing Requests for Proposals, preparing precise cost estimates, and conducting bid evaluations for our projects. This role plays a vital part in ensuring competitive and accurate project bids, contributing to our overall success.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bid Management

Help prepare and organize bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of estimated costs and supporting documentation.

Participate in pre-construction meetings when needed, assess value engineering efforts, provide feedback, and ensure estimates are updated based on pre-construction activities.

Assist in soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers

Descope bids, update and maintain bid spreads, and prepare bid summaries

Assist in the organization of bid proposals by providing cost estimates, participating in pre-construction meetings, soliciting bids from subcontractors, and maintaining bid documentation.


Take-Offs

Perform quantity take-offs using different software (Autodesk, Bluebeam, etc.)

Maintain historical take-offs by estimate level

Analyze and track plan changes

Ensure estimate level take offs are stored in an organized fashion

Perform quantity take-offs using various software, maintain organized historical records by estimate level, analyze plan changes, and ensure proper storage of take-offs.


Estimating

Prepare detailed cost estimates by effectively reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and third-party reports.

Utilize historical cost data to compile comprehensive budgets and analysis reports.

Assist in maintaining historical costs in excel database.

Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure estimates align with project goals and requirements.

Review change order pricing when needed

Prepare cost estimates by reading plans, using historical data for budgets, maintaining the cost database, working closely with project teams, and review change orders as needed.


Administration

Visit project sites, when necessary, to gather relevant information for the estimation and contract process.

Participate in weekly meetings with both contracting and development teams.

Prepare and maintain detailed buyout summary reports for management and weekly meetings.

Help process Subcontractor Prequalification as needed

Visit project sites for information, attend weekly team meetings, prepare buyout summary reports, and help with subcontractor prequalification.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous internship or entry-level experience in construction estimating or project management with 1+ years’ experience.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates.

Proficiency with Procore, Autodesk, Bluebeam, and MS Suite.

Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet strict deadlines.

Strong problem-solving skills.
