Human Resources Assistant- Benefits and Payroll

We have a unique opportunity for a Human Resources Assistant to join First National Bank LI as a member of the HR team. The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for completing a variety of HR fundamental tasks, duties and projects to support the day-to-day operations and administrative functions. The HR Assistant provides support to the following functions including but not limited to retirement plans administration, welfare benefits administration and payroll. Completing the bi-weekly contributions and the annual censuses for the Pension Plan and 401(k) Plan. Monthly processing of welfare bills timely. Act as back-up to the payroll function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with benefits administration, including Retirement Plans enrollments, benefit calculations as needed, updating the payroll system, and responding to inquiries. Assist with the processing of the bi-weekly contributions for both the Retirement and 401K Plans.

Assist with completing the annual censuses timely for both Plans.

Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; Refers more complex questions to appropriate HR staff or management.

Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings/trainings, and employee recognition.

Assist with the post-processing transactions to the general ledger file, FSA, HSA and Transit/Parking. Assist with payroll-related inquiries from employees and supervisors. Referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate level of management for clarification

Assist with the processing of the monthly welfare bills and benefits payment.

Assist with the annual employee performance evaluation process.

Assist with the monthly preparation of the General Ledger Proofs and processing the ADP invoices. Annual distribution of W-2s and 1095C to employees.

Assist with the Worker’s Compensation process, this includes filling out incident/ accident reports, submit to carriers, and timely follow up with employees.

Assist with employee leave of absence ensuring compliance with FMLA, NYPFL, NY State Sick time, STD, and ADA.

Assist with the Onboarding and Offboarding procedures of the Bank.

Maintain employee records in payroll/HRIS systems. Assist with the creation of Ad-Hoc payroll reports as needed.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Business Administration, with minor in Human Resources or equivalent work experience

Minimum 2 years related business experience, working knowledge of ADP WorkForce Now a plus

General knowledge of Human Resources and Payroll/Benefits functions a plus

Understanding of Retirement plans, Welfare Benefit plans and Payroll a plus

Able to work independently, accurately and meet deadlines

Strong organization skills, able to handle multiple tasks

Excellent communication skills - verbal and written

Proficient with Microsoft Office
