Job Title: Support Teacher

Job Summary:

The Morning Opener provides supervision in Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Classrooms as needed, including covering for absent teachers, breaks, prep time, and sanitizing classrooms.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, healthy, and stimulating classroom environment, guiding children's behavior positively, encouraging learning and socialization, assisting in curriculum planning, and collaborating with teachers.

Mandatory reporting of any form of abuse or neglect is required.

Participation in trainings, meetings, and self-assessment of job performance is expected.

Cleaning and sanitizing duties must be carried out in accordance with regulations and standards.


Knowledge/Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of childhood growth and development and ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to understand and deliver lesson plans and run classrooms independently when necessary.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, ability to maintain respectful relations and communication with staff, families, and community.
  • Ability to supervise children and ensure a safe environment.

Education:

High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or HiSET preferred.


License/Certification/Registry:

  • Certification in CPR, Pediatric First Aid, and completion of required training programs within specified timeframes.
  • Registration with the Montana Early Childhood Project: Practitioner Registry required.


Aptitudes:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and stressors effectively.
  • Genuine interest in and enjoyment of working with small children.
  • Ability to stay calm and respond to children reassuringly.
  • Exercise good judgment and critical thinking skills to ensure children's safety and well-being.
