RESPONSIBILITES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:

1. Serve as Study Director of efficacy and toxicology GLP studies.
2. Independently provide mentorship and training of all technicians, associates and others as needed to ensure GLP compliance.
3. Independently initiate and oversee the conduct of all experiments under the arm of Technical Services.
4. Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Test Methods to ensure GLP compliance.
5. Ensure the accurate collection of data using established data collection and reporting mechanisms.
6. Provide written technical reports for internal, government or private entities as needed.
7. Provide support in the manufacture of test materials as required.
8. Ensure animal population levels and laboratory supplies are maintained to meet research and technical service needs through active communication with technicians and associates.
9. Weekend and holiday work as scheduled.
10. Upon consultation with management, develop experimental product formulations and determine product performance utilizing established testing methods.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION Bachelor Degree in Biology or equivalent. (Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years prior experience with laboratory animals required.
Prior work experience in a GLP or AAALAC laboratory preferred.
AALAS certification at LATG (Laboratory Animal Technologist) strongly encouraged.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Strong reasoning, organization and communication skills. Self-motivated. Ability to work both independently and in a team setting. Willingness to learn new techniques and software are required.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Equipment operation including mixers, electronic balances and power sprayer. PC use and a working understanding of Microsoft® Excel/ Word software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to stand 30% of the day and lift up to 50 pounds. Hand-eye coordination for typing.
