Position Summary: The Project Manager is an important member of our National Accounts Team who plans, directs, coordinates, and budgets activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of asphalt and concrete pavement. The Project Manager will lead our projects with a focus on sourcing, cost negotiations, defining scopes, job execution, subcontractor relationships, and meticulous data management. Project Managers will play a pivotal role in ensuring successful project outcomes while maintaining and expanding gross profit margins.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and source necessary materials, equipment, and services for projects.
  • Analyze quotes and negotiate costs with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure competitive costing and maintain project profitability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate internal bidding processes as needed, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are engaged and informed.
  • Estimate projects to ensure proper bidding levels and accurate costing for competitiveness.
  • Monitor project financials to preserve and expand gross profit margins.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and value engineering techniques to enhance profitability.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, including onsite and remote management, pre-construction, phasing, change order process, and close-out activities.
  • Communicate and coordinate with customer and contractor key contacts on all projects.
  • Ensure timely and efficient project execution in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Work with Company’s Subcontractors to secure critical job documentation, such as signed contracts, job verification forms, photos, lien waivers, etc.
  • All projects must be executed with the Company’s standard Quality Control and Assurance measures.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, ensuring quality workmanship, timely delivery, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Evaluate and select subcontractors based on performance, capabilities, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the maintenance of project management systems and databases with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Utilize Let’s Pave’s CRM program to maximize productivity, accuracy and completeness of project records, and customer management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Sourcing, cost negotiations, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a results-driven mindset.
  • Proficient in using project management software and office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, project management platforms).
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of construction project terminology and processes.
  • Ability to read and analyze blueprint drawings.
  • Experience with Blue Beam or similar is preferred.
Requirements:


  • 3-5 years in project management role in the construction industry. (Preferred)
  • Understanding of cost structure and drivers in the paving industry (Preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in similar field. (Preferred).
  • Having worked within a high volume, fast-paced transactional environment.
  • Demonstration of standard project management skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and contractors with confidence and poise. Capability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and provide / accept feedback that will lead to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to work both in a team setting and independently with minimal supervision, including setting own goals and objectives, prioritizing responsibilities, and managing workload, following through on all tasks, and making decisions that benefit the Company and our customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Problem solving skills – identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Highly developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency - act promptly and decisively to serve the Company and customers.
  • Ability to handle high workload and multi-task effectively through superior time management and prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard hours as needed to support customer needs, inquiries, and problem resolution, and travel as needed to construction / project sites.
