Project Engineer - Global Events & Special Projects

The Musco Application Engineering Team is currently seeking a Project Engineer - Global Events & Special Projects to work from our Oskaloosa office. This position will provide lighting design and technical expertise for key global lighting projects. What you will do as a Project Engineer - Global Events & Special Projects:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and site models to identify project requirements
  • Apply Musco product to specific projects
  • Complete custom lighting designs for specific global projects using proprietary software
  • Complete or coordinate special build designs for assigned projects
  • Produce project specific drawings and documents for use by sales, manufacturing, customers, and contractors
  • Interface with customers, engineers, and architects
  • Provide technical assistance to Sales including the participation of in-person sales calls.
  • Travel to project sites to gather information and review existing conditions.
  • Travel to project sites to commission and verify results of installed lighting systems.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or minimum 3 years lighting design and application experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and graphical)
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Basic manufacturing knowledge
  • Able to interpret drawings and plans
  • Proficient with AutoCAD software.
  • BIM or other 3D modeling experience preferred.
  • Extensive Musco product knowledge
  • Knowledge of lighting terminology, calculations, and design. (LC certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.)
  • Ability to relate computer generated lighting models to actual results (for both human vision and for television or film)
  • Basic structural engineering knowledge – education or experience
  • Up to 25% travel may be required
  • Ability to work at heights required
  • Some night time work required
  • Able and willing to travel outside of the United States.
