Javahut in Guilford is a coffee bar and creperie that serves breakfast and lunch. Javahut is looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, customer service driven assistant manager. The assistant manager will assist the store manager in running an efficient and profitable operation of javahut. The assistant manager will be responsible for ensuring that the store meets company standards in customer service, sales, staffing, training, product quality and daily operations. This position enforces all procedures in the absence of the store manager. The assistant manager will be expected to have significant product knowledge, be versatile in both front and back of house, as well as to carry out our mission statement: “to share our passion for coffee, great food, exceptional service with every single guest.”

Service:

  • Consistently carries out company mission statement of exceptional service.
  • Pro-active in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.
  • Ensures that all team members provide customers with efficient and friendly, superior service on a consistent basis.
  • Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages team members to meet the company’s service standards.
  • Maintains high cleanliness standards consistently throughout all areas of store.
  • Responds proactively to prevent and resolve customer service situations.

Product:

  • Ensures that all team members are educated on our products and services.
  • Consistently maintains the highest quality product standards.
  • Follows all company recipes and procedures.
  • Ensures that all team members prepare food and drinks according to company recipes and standards.
  • Educates our customers on the superior quality of company products and services.

Daily Operations:

  • Assist store manager with daily tasks such as inventory, ordering, cash management, training and general maintenance
  • Assists store manager in planning and executing sales promotions and maintaining a positive community image.
  • Ensures that the store has sufficient product and supplies needed to manage an efficient store.
  • Performs opening and closing duties.
  • Delegates duties, as necessary, to all team members.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment.
  • Assists the store manager in maintaining proper loss prevention standards, reviewing cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures.
  • Informs the store manager of any operational inconsistencies, employee incidents, accidents, potential safety hazards, or any unusual or pertinent events.

Training & Development:

  • Assists in the training of new employees.
  • Lead and develop team members while following company standards and guidelines.
  • Motivates staff to maintain quality and consistent product.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year food service experience.
  • Register and cash handling experience.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, including weekends, and special events as needed.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
