Job Title: CAD Drafter

Department: Product Engineering

Reports To: Product Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for drawing creation and maintenance of metal fabricated components, including but not limited to sheet metal parts, metal tubing, machined components, weldments, assemblies, and installation instructions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create CAD models and drawings for manufacturing.
  • Create component program files for flat laser nesting.
  • Develop and implement drawing standards and best practices.
  • Give design input for product development and manufacturability.
  • Deliberates with engineering on product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and experience in design for manufacturing and capability analysis.
  • Advanced drawing/CAD experience in Solidworks and PTC Creo, certification preferred.
  • Technical degree or training in metal manufacturing and fabrication preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to feel or handle; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working conditions are normal for an office setting within a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds.
  • Machinery environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, protective shoes/boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Employees must demonstrate physical ability to work in a standing or sitting position, up to 8-12 hours per day.
