Position Summary
The focus of the Buckner Employee Benefits team is to assist employers of all sizes and industries in the implementation and management of a comprehensive, customized, data-driven benefits package that will help employers attract and retain talent. The Client Advisor position is a hunter role, requiring thorough knowledge and experience of the sales process, from prospecting to closing. Solid communication and interpersonal skills, building and nurturing trust and business relationships with clients and partners. Comfortable in overcoming sales objections. Detailed knowledge of employee benefits products and various underwriting methodologies. The ideal candidate is eager and capable of pursuing and closing sales opportunities and retaining assigned books of business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Achieve or exceed annual sales and retention goals.
  • Prospect for new business, utilizing the industry’s best practices to build and maintain a solid sales pipeline.
  • Learn and understand Buckner’s product portfolio.
  • Partner internally and externally to successfully cross-sell various insurance products.
  • Collect and analyze relevant market and industry intelligence.
  • Survey prospects to determine insurance needs, inspecting current insurance policies, risk management plans, employee benefit products and records.
  • Develop and maintain strong carrier and partner relationships.
  • Collect and analyze detailed risk and underwriting information including survey data and loss history.
  • Develop and deliver formal proposals, including coverage details, limits, deductibles, and other pertinent information.
  • Work with the Account Management team to resolve any service escalations.
  • Stay informed of all claims or service issues and become involved in resolution when required.
  • Participate in renewals with Account Managers to determine appropriate action and collection of information to prepare renewal submissions.
  • Maintain production reports and attend all sales meetings as required.
  • Promote agency and insurance industry in the community.
  • Keep informed of industry developments through marketing and networking events and continued education opportunities.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the leadership team.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • College degree from a four-year college/university, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in employee benefits (accident & health and life) insurance with mid to large-market clients is preferred.

Licenses or Certifications:
  • Active Colorado Accident & Health and Life Insurance license required or must be obtained within 90 days after start of employment.
Required Job Knowledge and Skills:     
  • Proven ability to pursue and close sales.
  • Ability to establish and develop strong relationships with clients, carriers, trusted business partners, and coworkers.
  • Business development and financial evaluation skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability and knowledge to work in Salesforce.
