JOB OVERVIEW:
- Safely assists developmentally disabled individuals in boarding and disembarking the bus during normal transport and in case of an emergency.
- Responsible for wheelchair loading, unloading, and securement.
- Maintains a considerate, cooperative attitude while ensuring the safe transport of the individuals to and from their destinations.
WAGE: $15.00per hour
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Friday, noholidays. Approximately 20-25hours per week.
Attendants will work a split shift, the hours are between 6:30am-9:30am and then 12:30pm-3:30 pm
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred, but not required.
- Must maintain eligibility to perform DDSO work
*ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Must successfully complete initial training and certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Must maintain training and certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Must successfully complete three hours of pre-service instruction in bus safety practices, child management techniques, special needs transportation including proper techniques for assisting disabled individuals in entering and exiting the bus.
- Receive a two-hour refresher instruction annually.
*All training provided by Regional Transit Service (RTS).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in extreme heat/cold for short periods of time
- Ability to sit/stand up to 2 hours at a time
