POSITION SUMMARY


Under general supervision, this role is a combination role of driver and facilities technician duties. Drive vehicle from overnight assigned parking to various outreach sites for the delivery of patient care to community outreach sites. Maintain the vehicle ensuring safety of the vehicle, patients and staff. Provide a secure and clean environment in the van for patients and staff. When not driving vehicle, under general supervision, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment. Conducts periodic inspection of buildings and grounds checking for potential problems/hazards and initiates corrective action as necessary.


Essential Position Duties (position on will work on the Van up to 50% of their time)


  • Drive mobile clinic or other vehicles to various locations or community events assigned by the supervisor.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections of the vehicle at the beginning and close of each shift to ensure proper and safe operations.
  • Record mileage at the beginning and close of each shift.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep of the vehicle. Ability to identify mechanical problems and report immediately to supervisor, track/schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Maintain a controlled, orderly environment during vehicle operation.
  • Ensure clean water tanks are full and gray water tanks emptied as needed.
  • Monitor gasoline fuel tank – refuel as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping vehicle clean both inside and out..
  • Performs ground keeping maintenance of COHC sites including the mobile van.
  • Cleans COHC buildings and grounds areas as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of providing an effective working/patient environment, preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure. Responsible for upkeeping vehicle clean both inside and out.
  • Cleans, services and maintains vehicles including washing, checking tires, gasoline, oil, and water levels; runs safety checks on assigned vehicle.
  • Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
  • Assists skilled maintenance workers with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Cleans COHC buildings and grounds areas as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of providing an effective working/patient environment, preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.
  • Provides assistance at testing sites (e.g. set up/breakdown, crowd control, etc.).
  • Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
  • Repairs furniture and building system components for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.
  • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.
  • Must maintain appropriate attendance.

  • Activate wheel chair lift as needed.

Requirements:

Professional Experience/Educational Requirements


  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations
  • 1+ years experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair

Certification/Licensure


  • CDL license required.
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license
