The Betty and Milton Katz Jewish Community Center is currently seeking to hire a Director of Teen Engagement.

Job Summary:

This is a dual role that allows the successful candidate to serve as the Director of Teen Engagement at the Katz JCC year-round and in a summer role at the JCC Camps at Medford. The successful candidate will be tasked with managing programs, experiences, and relationships with middle schoolers and high schoolers. These will be infused with Jewish values and culture, and inclusive for people of all backgrounds so that all teens in Southern New Jersey have a home at the Katz JCC.

The year-round Director of Teen Engagement will create and facilitate new programs to expand engagement opportunities for the Katz JCC’s middle school and high school population. In addition, the position will serve as a partner to the Katz JCC’s Children and Family Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities:

This position will be supervised by the Katz JCC Assistant Director and Director of JCC Camps at Medford. The main responsibilities include:

  • Develop, lead, and implement pre-teen and teen programs, including but not limited to middle school and high school social programming and volunteer opportunities, teen leadership development, Israel advocacy programs, teen philanthropy education, and more.
  • Develop engagement experiences for families with middle and high schoolers.
  • Work in partnership with the JCC Camps at Medford Director team to recruit and train teenage staff
  • Serve as the direct point of contact for South Jersey Region BBYO. Meet bi-weekly with BBYO regional director(s) to discuss program partnership opportunities and share information or areas of mutual concern and monitor implementation of the BBYO program plan. Provide oversight to BBYO of Katz JCC policies and procedures, and ensure they are being followed for all BBYO programs.
  • Partner with Children and Family Coordinator on school break Vacation Days and Saturday Nights Out for pre-teens
  • Support the Children and Family Coordinator with Just4Kids
  • Develop strong partnerships with parents, community leaders, synagogues, and organizations to expand and enhance teen programming and advocate for teen population
  • Ensure the involvement of pre-teens and teens in the development and implementation of programs and activities that meet their specific needs and interests
  • Develop youth programming that is in line with the mission, goals, and program objectives of the entire Katz JCC
  • Create evaluation tools and metrics to assess the effectiveness of current programs and methods and identify areas of improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the reach and impact of Katz JCC teen programs through effective collaboration with community partners.
  • Develop annual goals and work plans for youth programs and provide on-going evaluation of progress relative to goals and work plans.
  • Create and manage budgets for J-Teens department; monitor financial performance throughout the year.
  • As a member of the Katz JCC Program Staff team, serve as manager on duty at least two weekends per year

Required Education & Experiences:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to manage competing priorities and follow through with multiple deliverables
  • Comfortable working with, recruiting, and engaging teenagers across programs
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail
  • At least two years of Jewish Experiential Education with teens
  • Proven planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate in a variety of settings and styles clearly and appropriately. Able to present in front of large groups of participants.
  • Proficient in the use of Google Suite, MS Office applications, social media, and other technology platforms for youth programs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Psychology, Social Work, or Jewish Studies with at least two years of successful experience in providing Jewish educational services to teenagers
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Experience in program planning and execution
