What to expect as a Telecommunications Network Engineer:

As an IP Network Engineer, you play an important role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and testing of our telecommunication data network that delivers data and voice utilizing wireless, XDSL, and FTTX technology. You perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations. As needed, you also provide all necessary technical assistance to operations groups 24/7.

Using your exceptional troubleshooting skills to resolve issues, you support second and third-tier escalations for all operational outages within the IP network. Proactive and not just reactive, you monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability. You regularly test network backup procedures and keep documentation up to date. For capacity planning, you evaluate system resource utilization and trends. Conducting high-quality and comprehensive lab tests, you prove the viability of proposed engineering solutions.

Though we depend on you a great deal, you are not alone in your quest You communicate and coordinate well with others from your own and other departments. You utilize your knowledge of complex systems to keep us operating at peak proficiency.

Qualifications for an IP NETWORK ENGINEER

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification
  • 2 years of relevant technical experience with IP network equipment
  • Experience with the configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IP network equipment
  • Routing and switching experience
  • Proven hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostics, and network analytics tools
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed, including nights and weekends

Work Schedule
