Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance (PM) activities, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum plant performance. This role focuses heavily on mechanics, piping, welding, and hydraulics. All maintenance department employees participate in developing and implementing plant safety programs and policies. The Maintenance Technician supports all company policies, goals, and objectives, representing the company in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Location is southeast Nebraska

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform troubleshooting, installation, routine maintenance, and repair of mechanical manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions outside of normal working hours.
  • Responsible for mechanical piping within the plant.
  • Demonstrate understanding of welding principles associated with stick, TIG, and MIG welding.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding mechanical and piping prints.
  • Handle hydraulic operations and equipment.
  • Demonstrate personal computer skills and use of mechanical programs.
  • Perform rotating machine alignment.
  • Have a basic understanding of electrical systems to assist Maintenance Electrical Technician.
  • Maintain facilities and grounds in a clean, well-kept, and efficient manner.
  • Possess project management skills and participate in plant projects when needed.
  • Assist process operators when necessary.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager with control of parts inventory.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs and adhere to department and company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure awareness and implementation of all local, state, and federal regulations as they apply to the maintenance department.
  • Complete all tasks assigned by the Maintenance Engineer.
  • Perform other duties as needed to maintain safe and timely day-to-day operations of the plant.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records and company matters.
  • Support all company safety, health, environmental, and quality programs and policies, and be accountable for their performance within these programs in the Maintenance Department.
  • Maintain a high level of service and work performance, supporting and promoting a positive and cooperative team environment that fosters creative problem-solving and shared learning.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required.
    • Technical degree or certification in a related mechanical field preferred.
  • >3yrs exp in an industrial or process maintenance operations environment; preferably in the ethanol industry.
  • Experience in mechanics, piping, welding, and hydraulics.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, organizational, time-management, and troubleshooting skills.

Abilities Required

  • Work rotating on-call schedule during weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to:
    • Respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis during the assigned stand-by week and work outside of normally scheduled hours as needed
      • Must live within 1-hr commute to facility
    • Perform physical activities including walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
    • Ascend and descend stairs and ladders up to 200 feet.
    • Work while standing continuously.
    • Enter confined spaces.
    • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
    • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
    • Communicate using and hearing a 2-way radio system.
  • Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.

Wage: $46.67/hr (~$97K) +OT; benefits; NO Relocation; NO Sponsorship
