Position Objective:

The Sr. PV Electrical Engineer leads utility-scale photovoltaic power plant designs. The position is part of a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team requiring excellent engineering knowledge, AutoCAD drafting skills, and experience/coordination with land development. The position collaborates closely with our Engineering and Development teams on a diverse selection of solar projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading construction set designs (30%-IFC) of an entire portfolio.
  • Coordinating internal resources to support development & construction designs, including equipment specification to ensure project schedule is maintained.
  • Managing equipment vendors used in PV designs.
  • Collaborating with Engineer of Record to review and approve relay settings and implementation of accurate files.
  • Designing the coordination of applicable grounding transformers
  • Leading CapTest efforts once projects are commissioned.
  • Coordinating with Delivery Team to troubleshoot problems onsite.
  • Reviewing short circuit calculations to determine proper short circuit ratings of equipment and cabling.
  • Developing a specialty knowledge or skill set to complement the existing team's capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a related engineering or technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a professional engineering, construction, or land development environment.
  • Strong familiarity with current NEC & NESC requirements.
  • Experience managing internal engineering resources.
  • Strong communication skills enabling them to lead technical conversations with contractors and internal customers.
  • Proficiency establishing equipment specifications to generate final submittals.
  • Familiarity of SCADA design standards to complete Performance Test and O&M PV Sites; strong understanding of switchgear designs.
  • Understanding geotechnical reports to determine rho values, moisture contents, temperatures, and ampacity of AC and DC Cabling.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and proven organizational capacity to manage multiple projects is required.
  • A proven ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel and access sites of varying terrain. Position requires frequent travel, up to 1-2 weeks per month or about 20% of working time; must carry an acceptable driving record and active driver's license.
  • Must have a "roll up your sleeves and let's get the job done right" type attitude.
  • Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
