Purpose of the Role:

The Digital Marketing Specialist will implement and manage the Social Media efforts of NDFU. The ideal candidate will oversee content strategy, develop brand awareness and increase NDFU's social media presence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital marketing specialist's day-to-day activities:
    • Coordinate online marketing efforts, using Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with a willingness to learn future platforms.
    • Design, create (imagery, reels, videos) and manage promotions (contests, polls, surveys) and social media ad campaigns.
    • Help maintain the NDFU website and mobile app.
  • Become an advocate for the company in Social Media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Demonstrate ability to map out marketing strategy and then drive that strategy proven by testing and metrics.
  • Monitor social media comments on Farmers Union platforms and respond accordingly.
  • Monitor trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
  • Monitor effective benchmarks (best practices) for measuring the impact of Social Media campaigns. Analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to place digital ads and other electronic content on NDFU website.
  • Provide Social Media training/education programs to members to help expand local market presence.
  • Manage NDFU Marketplace (online store).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned (e.g. serve on various in-house committees).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
  • Maintains excellent writing and language skills and exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in the views of traditional marketing.

Educational Requirements:

  • An associate degree in communications, digital marketing, graphic design or relevant field of study. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based; day and occasional evening/weekend work with occasional travel.
