Primary Function of Position
As the Client Services Case Manager, you will serve as the main point of contact for food card applicants and take on the pivotal role of coordinating case management services within Catholic Community Services' (CCS) Basic Needs - Ogden campus. You will work closely with volunteers and the community, ensuring access to nutrition, promoting a healthy lifestyle initiative, and self-sufficiency.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Certification & Issuance: Certify eligibility for food assistance and issue food cards every six months.
- Case Management: Provide case management services and track outcomes for individuals seeking assistance at Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank.
- Referral Coordination: Use the Unite Us platform to refer individuals to other community services.
- Client Communication: Receive and respond to telephone and walk-in requests.
- Data Management: Assist with data entry and report preparation.
- Form Maintenance: Ensure all office forms (including food calendars and applications) are up to date and available for clients.
- Program Coordination: Assist with coordinating home deliveries, site deliveries, food classes, CSFP, DROPS, and other programs.
- Class Promotion: Promote and coordinate nutrition, parenting, relationship, and other classes held at CCS.
- Client Support: Work to promote client access to food stamps and employment.
- Nutrition Education: Develop and promote nutrition information, including recipes and budget-friendly shopping tips.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- This role is in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
- While primarily a sedentary role, some filing tasks are involved. This entails lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and occasionally bending or standing as needed.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Effective Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is required. This same ability in Spanish is preferred.
- Understanding of Challenges: Familiarity with the difficulties faced by low-income families and the importance of collaborating with other service agencies.
- Social Service Principles and Ethics: Knowledge of ethical guidelines in social services.
- Client Interaction Skills: Ability to listen, observe, and identify clients' diverse needs, as well as effectively communicate available resources.
- Personal Qualities: Openness, respect, compassion, and graciousness when assisting clients and co-workers.
- Integrity, Compassion, and Empathy: Essential personal qualities that build trust and confidence.
- Time Management: Ability to organize and manage time efficiently.

- Confidentiality: Must maintain strict confidentiality.
Education, Training and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- One to two years of related experience required; nonprofit, direct client services, or customer service experience preferred.
- Experience in computer software - including Office365 .
Background Screening Requirement
- Must be able to pass national BCI/FBI background check.
Licenses, certifications and credentials
- A current Utah driver's license and provide proof of auto insurance meeting minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident. Additionally, be 21 years of age or older, maintain a clean driving record, and have the capacity to fulfill CCS vehicle safety standards.
Position status and expected schedule
- Full-time, non-exempt, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Two Thursday evenings and two Saturday morning shifts are also required each month.
