Summary:

As an Assistant Manager at our Gas and Convenience Store, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities. You'll assist the store manager in overseeing staff, managing inventory, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving profitability. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a keen eye for detail to maintain high standards of service and efficiency.


Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising store staff.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth operation during shifts.
  • Motivate and coach team members to maintain high levels of performance and customer service.

Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure that the store maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for customers.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist in managing inventory levels to prevent stock shortages or overages.
  • Monitor merchandise displays and ensure products are stocked and properly rotated.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies accurately.

Sales and Promotion:

  • Implement strategies to drive sales and meet store targets.
  • Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities for promotions or product placement adjustments.
  • Assist in planning and executing marketing initiatives to attract new customers and retain existing ones.

Cash Handling and Financial Management:

  • Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accuracy in cash register operations.
  • Prepare daily sales reports and deposits, ensuring compliance with accounting procedures.
  • Assist in managing expenses and controlling costs to maximize profitability.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Monitor adherence to safety guidelines and address any safety concerns promptly.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, safety, and security standards.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll processing, and record-keeping.
  • Generate reports on sales, inventory, and other key performance indicators as needed.
  • Coordinate with the store manager on various operational and administrative matters.

Supervisor Responsibility:

Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED or previous experience in retail or customer service management.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
  • Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
  • A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
  • Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of gas station operations and convenience store products.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with POS systems.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
  • Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
