Summary

We are a small center located in Powell area of Knoxville looking for Child Development Center director. Candidates must have 2-3 years of experience managing a staff and early childhood classrooms or general management. We are looking for candidates that are as passionate about the growth, development, and curiosity of the precious children in our care as well as the ability to manage the needs of staff and parents. Our center cares for Infants through Pre-Kindergarten age children.

This position requires a highly mobile person who is detail oriented and an efficient multi-tasker. We are looking for someone that will enjoy coming to work to play with children, manage staff, develop workable schedules, enforce policies, maintain flexibility, and be a good role model to our children and staff. This position requires handling of many moving pieces which makes for an exciting day so the ability to manage acutely is critical. We are motivated to hire a great leader with experience to guide staff, parents and children. Our pay schedule is competitive. Pay is dependent on experience and skills of an applicant. Duties

The Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operational activities of the center.

  • Manage needs of staff, classrooms, and parents.
  • Develop workable staff schedule and ensure accuracy of time cards
  • Support needs of classrooms
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are followed and in compliance.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents.
  • Develop newsletters, activity calendars, parent involvement activities, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
  • Maintain a clean and safe center.
  • Conduct tours and maintain enrollment.
  • Conduct orientations for parents and staff
  • Manage staff training schedules
  • Work in conjunction with owner to ensure a successfully functioning center
  • Other duties as needed - cook, cleaning, maintenance, etc.


Requirements

  • Hold a minimum of a CDA, Early Childhood Associate Degree, or Associate Degree in Business Management
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional management experience preferably in child care.
  • Familiar with DHS child care licensing rules and regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer/technical product (tablets) skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of DHS licensing rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of ProCare software.
  • Ability to navigate and use TN DHS websites - TN Train, TN PAL, etc.
