Job Overview


The Design and Construction Project Specialist supports the design and construction processes for new franchise locations. This role assists in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to Brand standards. The specialist will work closely with franchisees, contractors, architects, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project execution.


Key Responsibilities


Project Support:

  • Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with franchisees to gather requirements and ensure alignment with Brand standards.
  • Track project progress and provide updates as requested.


Design Assistance:

  • Support architects and designers in developing test fits, store layouts and design concepts.
  • Review design documents and plans for compliance with Brand standards and local regulations.
  • Assist in organizing design review meetings with franchisees and internal stakeholders.


Construction Coordination:

  • Help manage the bidding process for selecting contractors and vendors.
  • Support on-site construction activities to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate and schedule site visits to monitor progress and assist in resolving issues.


Budget Assistance:

  • Assist in preparing and managing project budgets, ensuring all costs are tracked.
  • Review and process invoices from contractors and vendors for approval.
  • Identify and report cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.


Quality Control:

  • Ensure all projects meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in final inspections and coordinate with franchisees for project handover.
  • Help address post-construction issues and ensure satisfactory resolution.


Communication and Documentation:

  • Provide regular updates to the Design and Construction Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including plans, contracts, and progress reports.
  • Serve as a point of contact for franchisees throughout the design and construction process.


Requirements:
  • Trade School Certification, Associates, or bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project support, preferably in retail or franchise construction.
  • Basic understanding of construction processes, building codes, and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to travel as required to support projects at various locations.
  • Every Dogtopia employee, including anyone who must visit the Support Office or other Dogtopia work locations, attend in-person meetings with Dogtopia employees, franchisees, vendors, and/or other external partners, and/or travel as part of their job duties, must provide proof of vaccination.
