This role will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of control algorithms and system models for battery energy storage systems. This person will leverage expertise in controls engineering and systems modeling to play a key role in enhancing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of our energy storage solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement control algorithms for battery energy storage systems to optimize energy efficiency, system stability, and performance under varying operating conditions.
  • Design and simulate system models using tools such as MATLAB/ Simulink/CAD or equivalent software to analyze system dynamics, validate control strategies, and predict system behavior.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cell engineering, electrical engineering, software, and system integration, to integrate control algorithms into energy storage system hardware and software platforms.
  • Conduct system-level testing and validation to verify control algorithm functionality, performance, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in control strategies, system models, and simulation tools to enhance the overall performance and capabilities of battery energy storage systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams and external partners on control system design, modeling, and simulation-related matters.
  • Stay informed about advancements in controls engineering, systems modeling, and energy storage technologies, and integrate relevant insights into the development and optimization of energy storage solutions.
  • A great team spirit and get-it-done attitude. No job is too big or too small.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, systems modeling, and simulation, preferably in the battery or energy storage industry.
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink/CAD or equivalent software for control system design, simulation, and modeling.
  • Solid understanding of control theory, including classical and modern control techniques, as well as experience with PID control, state-space control, and model predictive control.
  • Familiarity with battery energy storage systems, power electronics, and grid integration technologies is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, real-time simulation, and rapid prototyping tools is a plus.
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
