MCAH is collaborating with the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program to implement a new Home Visiting Initiative (HVI). The new CalWORKs HVI Program will provide home visitation services to CalWORKs eligible first time-pregnant or parenting women residing in Los Angeles County. Eligible women who qualify for CalWORKs HVI will received home visitating services using the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP), Healthy Families America (HFA) or Parents as Teachers (PAT) Model. DPH is currently hiring one Clinical Social Workers Supervisor (CSWS) to provide supervision, consultation, support and oversight to CSWs who provide social work home visitation services to the HVI NFP program participants and their families. The CSWS reports to the HV Expansion Nurse Manager or her designee.
The positions will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and are initially funded through September 29, 2023 with potential extension.

Job Duties
Examples of Job Functions
  • Attend mandatory training including but not limited to those required by DPH and DPSS. Training may include out of state HV model training;
  • Attend necessary supervisor training in order to fulfill funder requirement for mental health data report needs;
  • In addition to supervision, when necessary, provide in-home mental health services in assigned Service Planning Areas (SPAs) to a few clients who are enrolled in the CalWORKs HVI program;
  • Ensure CSWs attend all required training;
  • Attend mental health screening and therapy utilizing Outcomes Questionnaire 45.2 (OQ.45.2), Youth Outcomes Questionnaire (Y-OQ 2.01), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other mental health questionnaires if needed;
  • Attend needed training in order to provide mental health services to the CalWORKs HVI participants. Training such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Trauma Informed Care; Postpartum Depression and/or Maternal Mental Health.
  • Maintain a caseload of up to 8 CSW or a combination of CSW and clients;
  • Adhere to licensed clinical social worker documentation;
  • Review and analyze data as needed and provide aggregated report as required;
  • Review CSW client treatment plans and provide feedback to improve CSWs client engagement and services;
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one and quarterly joint home visits to observe therapeutic interventions;
  • Utilize reflection and reflective supervision during weekly one-to-one with the CSWs;
  • Provide ongoing consultations to the HVI team consists of nurses, home visitors and CalWORKs staff;
  • Participate in meetings with DPSS and facilitate referrals into Department of Mental Health (DMH) clinics when necessary;
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings to evaluate the effectiveness of treatments provided to clients and their families;
  • Provide training to HVI home visitors on mental health issues and intervention when requested;
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to promote and raise awareness of CalWORKs HVI,
  • Monitor and track productivity of each staff for service delivery and progress of personnel to ensure performance is at the required standard to fulfill the responsibilities of CSW;
  • Perform supervisory duties as required, and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master's Degree in Social work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education including supervised clinical social work field work experience - OR - A Master's Degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and two (2) year of experience in medical, psychiatric, family, or child welfare social work involving problems of medical, mental, or emotional adjustment;
  • A valid, current license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or registration in good standing as an Associate Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences within six (6) months of employment. Associate Clinical Social Workers must remain in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences for the duration of the waivers permitted by law, not to exceed six (6) years;
  • At least two (2) year of supervision experience, and
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.


Desirable Qualifications:
  • Able to drive and participate in meetings or joint home visits;
  • Experienced in providing mental health services in a home sitting;
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred;
  • Experienced in serving the high-risk pregnant mothers and their children;
  • Willing to learn and able to travel to be trained when required;
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office such as Excel and other digital technology;
