We are looking for an Associate to support the Community Development team, which engages supporters to raise funds and awareness for Smile Train.  The Associate will oversee Smile Train’s DIY fundraising program by working closely with individual supporters as they design and implement successful events which engage their networks. Additionally, the Associate will be exposed to a wide range of fundraising initiatives as they provide administrative support to our programs for high school students, young professionals, and athletes. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about project management, peer to peer fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship. 

 

The Associate will report to the VP, Community Development. This is a full-time role based at our headquarters in New York City, starting as soon as possible.

 

Note: Our New York team works in a hybrid environment, working from the office twice per week; the COVID-19 vaccine is required for all US-based employees, except in the event of approved medical or religious exemption.  


Responsibilities 

  • Manage Smile Train’s DIY fundraising program.
    • Respond promptly to supporter inquiries through various channels, ensuring that supporters are communicated with courteously and promptly by telephone, email, or mail.
    • Support individuals, community groups, schools, and small businesses in their fundraising efforts. Provide personalized guidance about event logistics, fundraising platform management, volunteer recruitment, and event operations.
    • Liaise with Smile Train’s Communications team to craft and share relevant stories with external audiences.
    • Process donations and acknowledgements following Smile Train processes.
  • Provide administrative support for the Young Leadership Circle, Student Ambassador, and Team EMPOWER programs, including onboarding, supporter communication, and assistance with both planning and staffing meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Represent Smile Train, and speak about our programs, at local activities and events held by supporters.
  • Manage matching gift administration for Team EMPOWER.
  • Track and report on fundraising progress of the DIY fundraising program. Provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Research projects related to fundraising and stewardship programs.
  • Participate in planning and brainstorming sessions with the Community Development team.
  • Supporting with additional administrative, events, and tasks related to community fundraising as determined.

 

Qualifications: 

Our ideal candidate has/is 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 year relevant experience. Experience in fundraising and/or event planning strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM preferred.
  • A flexible schedule and ability to staff events that occur outside of business hours, including nights and weekends, is a requirement.
