Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Altoona
is an 80-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. We offer a wide base of physical rehabilitative care.
The patient transporter will need to be available for patient STAT runs and appointments, including accompanying patients to and from these appointments.
Some are of these runs and appointments are scheduled & some are STAT. This position is PRN status, working on an as needed basis.
Duties included, but are not limited to:
- Being able to help transfer patients to and from a wheel chair
- Helping with basic care, including possible toileting and changing brief or pullup, if necessary
- Providing a snack if the duration of the trip is extended
- Travel time may be 15 min to 2 hours to and from destination (round trip 4-5 hours or longer)
Education, Training and Years of Experience: High School diploma or equivalency and related work experience.
Machines, Equipment Used: General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
Physical Requirements: Good visual acuity and ability to communicate. Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements. Ability to walk continuously through assigned shift.
Compliance: Adheres to the company's Standards of Business Conduct. Maintains current BLS/CPR certification, training available through the facility.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively. Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions: Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure. Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required. May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards: Meets established attendance standards. Adheres to hospital/department dress code including wearing ID badge. May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
