We provide full-time coverage with both part-time and volunteer staff. We protect a district of over 600 residential homes, 5 shopping centers, 3 schools, 13 apartment complexes, 11 industrial facilities, and a population of over 20,000. We provide free training to members ranging from entry level to advanced for all positions in the department. Once basic training is completed, all members are required to work a specific number of shifts in the station.

Job Position Description
The position of Volunteer Medical Responder is an entry level position and applies to volunteer personnel. All personnel are required to complete six (6) months of probation regardless of their level of training. The Volunteer Medical Responder is primarily responsible for providing medical first response/Emergency Medical Service support, firefighter rehabilitation, and medical standbys for special events. This position is for new candidates without any training or those with an Emergency Medical Responder certification or Emergency Medical Technician license. Goose Creek Rural Fire Department currently responds at the Emergency Medical Responder level. In addition to emergency related incidents, the volunteer medical responder is responsible for promoting Public Education and general safety to the residents of the district.
