Continental Heavy Civil is looking for a Carpenter to perform the daily operations on a job site. You will be responsible for executing various woodworking tasks and contributing to the construction, repair, or remodeling of structures. Your primary focus will be on interpreting project plans, using specialized tools and equipment, and applying your carpentry skills to fabricate, install, and finish wood-based components. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  1. Carpentry Work: Perform carpentry tasks based on project plans, blueprints, or specifications. This includes measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling wood components such as frames, trusses, doors, windows, cabinets, and furniture. Utilize various hand and power tools, including saws, drills, chisels, routers, and sanders, to achieve accurate and high-quality results.
  2. Material Selection and Preparation: Select appropriate lumber or wood materials based on project requirements. Prepare materials by measuring, marking, and cutting them to the required dimensions. Apply appropriate treatments or finishes, such as staining, varnishing, or painting, to enhance their durability and appearance.
  3. Installation and Assembly: Install and fit wood components accurately, ensuring proper alignment, levelness, and stability. Secure components using nails, screws, adhesives, or other fastening techniques. Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as plumbers, electricians, or masons, to integrate wood elements with other construction systems.
  4. Framing and Structural Work: Construct or repair structural frameworks, including walls, partitions, floors, roofs, or stairs. Install and reinforce framing members, such as beams, joists, rafters, or trusses, using appropriate techniques to ensure structural integrity and code compliance.
  5. Concrete Work Repair: Perform minor concrete repair tasks as required. This may involve patching, resurfacing, or filling cracks, holes, or damaged areas in concrete structures. Use appropriate concrete repair materials, tools, and techniques to achieve durable and aesthetically pleasing results.
  6. Safety and Quality Assurance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately. Conduct quality checks to verify that finished work meets project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations. Rectify any defects or deficiencies promptly.
  7. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and care for carpentry tools, equipment, and machinery. Keep tools clean, sharp, and in good working condition. Report any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies to supervisors. Follow proper storage and security procedures to prevent loss or damage to tools.
  8. Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate and communicate with project managers, architects, contractors, and other team members to ensure smooth project execution. Seek clarification or guidance when necessary. Collaborate with other tradespeople on the job site to integrate carpentry work seamlessly with other construction activities.

Qualifications:

 

  • Vocational training, an apprenticeship in carpentry or similar experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to clear drug screening and E-Verify
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques and joinery methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
