Please know our Associate Teachers who have their Associate Teacher Permit make between $19.00 to $19.50 an hour.


Benefits include: up to two weeks accrued vacation, 9 paid holidays, 6 accrued sick days, and 75% of employee medical premium.


Under supervision of the Center Director, the Teacher position is a full time, full year position that implements and oversee all components of quality instruction in the Head Start and California State Preschool Program (CSPP) or General Child Care and Development (CCTR) child development programs. This includes the development of age-appropriate programs for children and working effectively with children, families, administration/staff, and adhering to state and federal guidelines.

Compensation:

$19 - 1$9.50 DOQ/DOE

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Basic computer skills and internet use

  • Ability to communicate with families and coworkers with compassion and free from judgment.

  • Support the service delivery system of Child Development Services in compliance with the Department of Health and Human Services regulations as mandated by the Head Start Performance Standards, California Department of Education Title 5 Funding Terms and Conditions, and California Department of Social Services, Title 22.
  • Create and maintain a well-organized environment that includes all applicable interest areas and supports and encourages acceptance and respect of gender, culture, language, ethnicity, and family composition.
  • Provide and rotate materials and equipment regularly.
  • Provide an outdoor curriculum that enhances children’s physical and social development by bringing indoor components outside.
  • Utilize the Environmental Rating Scale instrument to measure quality in the classrooms.


Curriculum and Assessments

  • Plan and implement quality lesson plans utilizing The Creative Curriculum
  • Observe and document children’s growth and development in the Child Plus DRDP Application
  • Assess each child using the Desired Results Developmental Profile 2015 (DRDP 15)
  • Prepare individualized education plans specifying developmental goals and activities for each child.
  • Consider CLASS domains and dimensions to promote optimal teacher-child interactions.


Developmental Screenings

  • Provide comprehensive developmental and mental health screening using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) system for children who are receiving services to ensure appropriate referral and follow-up for special needs services.
  • Administer the ASQs and ASQ:SEs (Social Emotional) within 45 days of entrance into the program.
  • Work with parents to complete the age-appropriate ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE and make referrals for further assessments when scores indicate a possible developmental delay, behavioral, or mental health concern.


Social and Emotional Growth

  • Implement the Teaching Pyramid approach that provides a systematic framework promoting social and emotional development, providing support for children’s appropriate behavior, preventing challenging behavior, and addressing problematic behavior.

Supervision, Nutrition, and Safety

  • Provide for the safety, health, and nutrition of all children.
  • Always supervise children to ensure a safe environment according to Title 5 Regulations (Preschool 1:8, Toddlers 1:4, Infants 1:3)
  • Develop and implement care and supervision plans that are specific to classroom and playground and include details of teaching staff responsibilities and zoning maps.
  • Complete individual Infant/Toddler Needs Services Plan
  • Provide food service support for all snacks and meals according to CACFP policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of meal counts.
  • Implement health practices within the classroom using universal health precautions including handwashing, glove wearing, diaper changing, and dispensing of authorized medications.
  • Assess the indoor and outdoor environment and complete the Daily 7 if assigned opening teacher position.
  • Implement the center’s plan for emergencies and conduct monthly drills.


Professional Development

  • Attending agency professional development trainings and other professional growth opportunities including sponsored trainings, conferences, Quorum online trainings, Monarchlink online trainings, and Teaching Strategies online trainings.
  • A minimum of twenty hours per year is required.


Cultural Awareness

  • Ensures awareness of multicultural workplace issues, enabling employees to work effectively. Multicultural awareness is incorporated into all interactions with children, families, staff, and communities.


Collaboration, Family Engagement, and Teamwork

  • Participate in daily positive communication with families.
  • Conduct two home visits per year.
  • Meet with families as requested informally and formally during parent conferences.
  • Attend and participate in Child Success Team meetings.
  • Support Center Director in promoting center and agency meetings and events.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings.
  • Work with the teaching team to ensure all classroom expectations are met.
  • Support Family Engagement staff in collecting documentation as needed.
  • Participate in monthly classroom case conferences.
  • Professionalism
  • Represent the agency’s mission and values.
  • Promote and maintain a sense of teamwork within assigned classrooms, centers, and agency.
  • See oneself as a professional and one’s work as a professional practice.
  • Assume responsibility for continued professional growth and maintain current child development permit.
  • Keep all required records current and accurate (meal counts, time sheets, attendance records, etc.)
  • Demonstrate efficient use of time and materials.
  • Maintain excellent work habits (attendance, punctuality, time management, teamwork, etc.)
  • Always keep confidentiality.


Essential Physical Functions (including classroom and outdoor environments)

  • Physically capable of responding in a timely manner to the children’s needs, emergencies and conflicts that may occur within a child care center environment.
  • Able to lift and carry at least 30 lbs. (from floor to waist) in a repetitive manner.
  • Physically capable of assisting children when needed to ensure their safety in the play area.
  • Physically able to crouch, squat, sit, and stand on the floor (up to 30 minutes), to relate to the children in their environment.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Perform other related duties to fulfill Creative Child Care, Inc.'s mission, goals, and objectives. Additional responsibilities may include assisting where needed within the team/unit, which may consist of special assignments.
Qualifications:

Associate Teacher

  • Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, some experience teaching/working with children 0 - 5 and their families.
  • Three infant toddler units are required if working with children birth to three years old. An Associate Teacher with 3 infant toddler units pays $19.50 per hour.
  • Knowledge of Title5/Title 22 regulations helpful
