SUMMARY:

Island Federal Credit Union’s Chief Lending Officer (CLO) will be responsible for providing leadership to the Credit Union Team on all decisions focusing on Home Lending, Consumer Lending, Commercial Lending and collections efforts. The CLO will have executive oversight, supervision, and development of staff, make credit and lending decisions, and perform credit monitoring of all loans above a certain threshold.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors in ensuring the long-term success of the Credit Union’s lending operations through effective management, lending strategies, and credit risk management to ensure the safety and soundness of the Credit Union’s loan portfolio.

• Strategically set guidelines and policies relating to the accurate and timely servicing of the Credit Union’s residential loan portfolio, including the production of loan documentation, proper funding, closing processes, and loan servicing.

• Develop long-term strategies that will include initiatives such as portfolio composition, mix, growth strategies and market penetration objectives.

• Maintain industry trends and key performance analytics to optimize lending services and product penetration to enhance the Member experience.

• Serve as member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to:

o Oversee the development of overall policies, programs, objectives, goals, and procedures for the Credit Union.

o Oversee the development and implementation of appropriate lending products and services for our Members,

o Report industry trends, make recommendations for response to the marketplace and utilize suitable risk management strategies for product pricing and retention.

• Serve as executive leader and manager over Residential Real Estate Lending, Commercial Real Estate Lending, Secondary Markets, Consumer Lending, and Collections Teams. This includes:

o Oversight of the maintenance of efficient and effective lending operations policies, practices, and procedures for department and on-line lending channels achieving workflow efficiencies and a high degree of Member experience and satisfaction.

o Oversight of new business generation, credit approval, loan portfolio management, loan portfolio quality and overall loan portfolio profitability.

o Oversight to ensure excellent Member service by continuous improvement and/or development of internal and Member systems.

o Oversight on ensuring that the origination and maintenance of loans meet all policy and regulatory requirements.

• Servies as member of the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and conducts market analysis and recommends loan rate changes, within the lending policy, for all loan products and present to ALCO committee for approval.

• Ensures the accuracy of the risk rating system and supports the Finance Team members in assessing and determining the adequacy of the Credit Union’s allowance for loan losses.

• Prepares monthly board reports and other reports as requested.

• Develops Team members through mentoring and coaching.

• Prepares operating budget for lending departments

• Other duties as assigned by the CEO and Board of Directors.


Requirements:

• Master’s degree or a combination of education and experience

• 12+ years of experience with at least five (5) years in a Senior management supervisory position

• 12+ years of supervisory experience

• Previous leadership in a financial institution required with credit union experience preferred.

• Strong ability in the development and implementation of policies and procedures

• Ability to prioritize, pay close attention to detail, and coordinate various activities and teams simultaneously.

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
