Job DescriptionJob Description

JOB SUMMARY: Organizes work by reviewing daily requirements, checking and gathering supplies; completes vehicle service requirements: lubricating, changing filters, tires and belts; keeps coolant, window cleaner and tire inflation to proper levels; keeps vehicle presentable by removing interior waste; notes time of service intervals; stores and retrieves vehicles (parking and driving vehicles); helps maintain safe environment following company standards in shop and updates job knowledge by participating in training. Duties as assigned by Operations Director. The Apprentice would be in effect for a time of one year with satisfactory performance and an opportunity to continue employment with Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate shop equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Knowledge of safety practices, MSDS, hazardous material containment, disposal and clean up procedures.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, physical examination and continue compliance with ongoing drug testing and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Complete First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving and other training courses.
  • Pass a background investigation and Criminal Record Check.
  • Must be willing to work towards becoming a CSE Mechanic.
  • Reviews, verifies and approves timesheets, vouchers and claims for reimbursement for staff supervised.
  • Completes an annual evaluation of each department employee.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess high school diploma
  • ASE Certification and Virginia Safety Inspector License preferred
  • Knowledge of auto motive safety practices
