Job Description for Student Mentor:

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate Student Mentor to provide support and guidance to students in local elementary and middle schools. As a Student Mentor, you will be responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping students develop social and emotional skills to promote healthy relationships and resiliency.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a positive and supportive learning environment for students in group and one-on-one settings in multiple schools
  • Conduct regular check-ins with students to assess their personal needs
  • Provide guidance and support to students in areas such as time management, study skills, and goal-setting
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address student needs
  • Develop and implement programs and activities to enhance student engagement and success
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, performance, and areas of need
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance mentoring skills
  • Research and plan new activities/lessons based on students' needs
  • Recruit and support volunteer mentors to work with students
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Manages time well
  • Organized
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for helping students with identified and unidentified behaviors/risks
  • Reliable transportation
