Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs tier 1 support for a variety of computer and audio visual (AV) systems administration and support tasks. Includes constructing, documenting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting software applications, hardware, peripherals and communication devices.

Essential Functions:

  • Consults and interacts with library staff daily, maintaining a high level of customer service in solving software applications, hardware problems and answering questions. (60%)
  • Troubleshoots/analyzes/solves all software application problems using a variety of systems management tools and techniques.
  • Troubleshoots computer equipment, printers, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) issues and AMH (Automated Materials Handling) issues.
  • Troubleshoots Audio Visual (AV) issues and coordinates repairs and replacement of parts with outside vendors.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance and upgrade of IT devices including desktops, laptops, phones, mobile devices, printers and other devices
  • Performs daily monitoring of service tickets and ensures work is being completed in a timely manner while maintaining a high level of communication including regular status updates with the customer until the work is completed to the customers’ satisfaction.
  • Provides end-user training to library staff regarding AV and video conferencing equipment/software and occasionally requiring work to be completed outside normal business hours. (20%)
  • Performs routine system maintenance. (10%)
  • Helps create department application and systems standards, maintenance procedures and operational procedures. Documents profiles and department procedures. (10%)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Take proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property.
  • Responsible for knowing and complying with all library policies; participating in professional training and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.

Anticipated Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 8am-5pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Science, or related field or 5 years technical training. Knowledge and experience with AV equipment including AV for a hybrid environment. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows in Active Directory/Domain Policies environment and Microsoft Windows for Workgroups.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge and proficiency in various technologies, including software applications, operating systems, and digital tools. Excellent communication skills, customer service skills and project management ability. Ability to convey technical information in a clear, understandable fashion to users orally and in writing. Patient and empathetic demeanor with a passion for helping others. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with library staff, management and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in designing and delivering technology training programs for individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Strong ability establish/follow-through on the prioritization of user requests with limited direction.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily conducted in an office setting that provides comfortable lighting, temperature and air conditioning. Position requires the ability to sit and use a computer or standard office equipment for extended periods. Position requires the ability to occasionally reach, bend, climb twist and squat and the ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions. Position works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Position requires the ability to lift and move computer equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
