Facilities Manager/Safety Coordinator

Duties: Maintains knowledge of certification, accreditation and safety standards. Provides training to staff and residential clients. Coordinates and completes tasks to ensure the facilities are safe and in good working order. General building maintenance and minor electrical and plumbing repairs, light construction work, basic landscaping and snow removal, and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. This is a WORKING SUPERVISOR POSITION. Candidates must be capable of working at multiple locations in Licking and Knox Counties. This position is 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling available.

Our Location: We are located at 65 Messimer Drive in Newark, Ohio, a short 30-minute scenic commute from Columbus, Zanesville, Lancaster, and Mount Vernon.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts safety orientation for new staff and residential clients.
  • Assists with staff development regarding safety and with implementation of the facilities’ Emergency Plan.
  • Oversees the scheduling of safety drills and ensures the documentation and evaluation of the drill’s effectiveness is provided by designated staff at each facility.
  • Reviews health and safety issues as a member of the CQI Committee.
  • Enforces safety and security policies/procedures of the organization.
  • Assists Administration in developing written Emergency Plans to be reviewed and updated annually.
  • Ensures Emergency Plans are reviewed with residential clients and new staff at orientation and posted conspicuously in the facilities.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Ensures all organization facilities are in compliance with regulations of the local fire safety authority, local sanitation and health codes, local zoning, building codes, etc.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts safety, sanitation and fire inspections of the interior and exterior of organization facilities to meet deadlines.
  • Serves as liaison with local safety officials i.e. fire, law enforcement, disaster services, emergency medical services and health department.
  • Coordinates quarterly fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Coordinates annual inspection by the state/local sanitation and health authority.
  • Assists with ongoing certification and accreditation protocol.
  • Oversees and conducts general maintenance of facilities and general upkeep of the grounds. This is a working supervisor position.
  • Ensures that equipment is in good repair and working order.
  • Coordinates pest control in the organization’s facilities.
  • Oversees the maintenance of organization-owned vehicles.
  • Requisitions supplies and maintains readily available inventory.
  • Completes work orders in a timely manner.
  • Solicits estimates for maintenance and repair work and safety product cost for Supervisor approval.
  • Coordinates contracting with professional contractors and/or volunteers with prior approval of Supervisor.
  • Assists in the preparation for special events and visits.
  • Meets regularly with Supervisor to review priorities and project status.
  • Supervises Maintenance Worker in performance of job duties and responsibilities. Assigns and coordinates work, provides training and direction, and ensures work complies with performance expectations. Approves leave requests, enforces policy and performance standards, addresses and resolves work issues, and effectively performs other management responsibilities to create and maintain a productive and content workplace.
  • Maintains confidentiality of HIPAA and other confidential and sensitive information.
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and “best practices” in the field. Attends and participates in required trainings on topics relevant to the job and to behavioral healthcare.
  • Performs job responsibilities and maintains all records in accordance with BHP’s policy, procedure and protocol, and as appropriate to the job, all regulatory authorities’ accreditation/licensure/

certification standards, and all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma and five (5) years of experience preferred. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Basic computer and typing skills are required for all positions.
