OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Regulatory Project Manager oversees all aspects of USDA Regulatory compliance. They will be a strategic leader within Regulatory, responsible for developing and executing Regulatory plans as pertains to materials, projects and processes to ensure Home Market Foods products meets all regulatory requirements. Sets the standard for other team members and provides technical leadership and direction for the growth and improvement of the department and the company. Operating at the intersection of innovation and continuous improvement, this role focuses on driving the development of new products while overseeing a dedicated team of Regulatory Technologists.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directly manage and mentor direct reports to ensure their growth and potential is fully embraced.

• Effectively communicate business risk and reward with senior executives to outline recommended approach.

• Continuously seek opportunities to develop and improve business proper processes and protocols and be creative in managing efficiency and productivity.

• Stays abreast of and educates reports and company on domestic and international Regulatory developments.

• Is responsible for Regulatory documents, submissions, and compliance issues.

• Presents as the Regulatory business partner on cross functional project teams providing Regulatory expertise to ensure project/product development in a timely manner.

• Provides Regulatory guidance for various corporate wide teams/committees.

• Maintains a current status field of expertise through continual education, webinar and symposiums and engagement in technical organizations

• Identifies key talent and works with Director to develop succession plan.

• Helps manage timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes or escalate timelines that are not achievable.

• Partners with QA to write and maintain Regulatory SOP procedures and ensure compliance with Regulatory standards and best practices.

• Supports QA and VA in SQF and customer audits.

• Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for Regulatory education and consultants.

• Lead cross functional teams on process improvements related to and beyond Regulatory needs.

• Maintains team project list to assure all projects are visible and have consistent metrics, followups, and execution.

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, presenting project updates, proposals, and innovative solutions.

• Build cross-functional relationships to better align on expectations to facilitate smooth Regulatory execution.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Regulatory Science, Nutrition, Food Science, Biology or related field.

• 5-10 years of related management experience with a food or beverage company in Regulatory compliance.

• Critical knowledge of USDA/FDA/CFIA and export regulations required.

• Strong knowledge of SQF Certification process, focusing on regulatory compliance.

• Experience with Genesis Software strongly preferred.

• Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced, environment.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

• Experience in leading and motivating a staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The below physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.

• Must be able to wear steel-toed boots, a hair net, safety glasses, and ear plugs.

• Must be able to follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice) and other safety rules.
