Key ResponsibilitiesWho are you?The Director, Engineering is a leader of strategic and operational decisions and provides foresight and direction to engineering.  They are passionate about technology and foster a culture of continuous improvement through innovative solutions.  They develop architectural plans and release strategies, have advanced knowledge of our platform, tech stack and trends within the field of engineering.  They have demonstrated the ability to create and cultivate high performing teams that deliver products with quality, timeliness, and scalability.  They make measurable gains in operational efficiency and shown the ability to strategize by long-term thinking.  They are a role model and ambassador of our core values that have led by example.  They cultivate a culture of excellence across product delivery teams.  Comfortable owning business goals, they actively manage engineering activities of key components and initiatives across engineering teams and creatively solve execution problems to meet project timelines.   
In this role you will wear many hats, but your knowledge will be essential in the following:  
  • Leader of strategic and operational decisions. 
  • Focus on operational efficiency and long-term thinking. 
  • Work with engineering teams to plan upcoming projects, coordinate with operations, support, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth delivery. 
  • Lead efforts to resolve issues across product delivery team. 
  • Engage in Scrum team meetings to ensure work is consistently sequenced, digested and completed at a reasonable velocity. 
  • Collaborate on software architecture solutions. 
  • Excellent communicator across product delivery teams

Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
  • Experience in Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, SSIS and SSRS 
  • Experience with RESTful services (such as Azure Function Apps) and consuming or implementing APIs. 
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies to support Agile planning and work estimation. 
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing and code tuning. 
  • Experience with distributed source code control (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket) 
  • Knowledge of agile software development suite of tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.) 
  • Proficiency with relational databases including writing stored procedures and queries. 
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions within department and company guidelines. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Highly organized professional with strong project management and prioritization skills 
Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience 
  • 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring software developers. 
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably in C# or C++ / .NET, Angular 
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL development, including developing SQL queries, designing tables, stored procedures, indexes, views, functions, and performance tuning. 
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud service platform solutions strongly preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience working in an Agile environment strongly preferred. 
  • Preferred experience in health insurance industry

In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges up to $170,000 annually.  Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position may be eligible for a target bonus/variable compensation as well as health, dental, vision, mental health and other benefits.
