Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary:
The Buyer/Planner I is responsible for mechanical components sourcing and planning activities and works closely with stakeholders on forward and reverse logistics for various supply chain activities. This role reports to the Purchasing & Planning Supervisor.
This is an ON-SITE position, in Littleton, MA.
Essential Functions:
- Quoting, negotiating, and placing orders for mechanical parts, assemblies and other customized sub-contracted assemblies.
- Engineering Services responsibilities include purchasing for short run quick turn prototypes including:
- Sheet metal/machinery.
- Long lead parts to meet deadlines.
- Working with engineers to identify alternate parts as needed.
- Communicating with stakeholders on potential delays or issues.
- Conducting cost analysis to make prudent purchasing decisions.
- Seeking and helping qualify new supplier sources.
- Managing vendor relationships, vendor visits, etc. Drives vendor continuous performance improvement.
- Manage cost savings while maintaining quality of the supply.
- Implementing engineering change orders.
- Processing non-conforming material via reworks, returns, and supplier corrective actions.
- Compiling, organizing and presenting purchasing metrics.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management or Economics with 2-4 years’ work experience in purchasing and/or planning in manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate to advance Excel skills with strong analytics skills.
- Experience working in a global environment preferred.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certified preferred.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment including telephone, computer/keyboard, and copier.
- Must be able to walk around production floor and occasionally climb stairs.
- May occasionally carry parts up to 40 lbs.
