The Renewal Underwriter will work on a hybrid schedule.

The Jencap Renewal Underwriter is integral to maintaining our high level of service and responsiveness on current accounts. Underwriter will work with agent, broker clients, and internal teams to underwrite profitable business consisting of renewal commercial P&C insurance within authority level.

  • Determine the acceptability, quality and profitability of existing business based on company underwriting guidelines and objectives within authority level.
  • Collect, maintain and analyze data in order to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Manage assigned territory so that items such as renewals, endorsements, claim reviews and related transactions are completed accurately within accepted corporate time frames.
  • Treats all inquiries on a professional basis, providing timely, courteous and efficient customer service to agents, policyholders, team members and other departments
  • Make recommendations to Senior Underwriter or Supervisor on selected risks beyond assigned authority level.
  • Address assigned workload within quality, productivity and service standards as established by the company underwriting guidelines.
  • Meet regularly with the broker/underwriting teams on strategy and follow-up.
  • Special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work related experience in P&C renewal underwriting process
  • Participate in company organized, prescribed or designated insurance seminars and workshops on or off premises.
  • Travel as needed.

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The base pay range for the role will be $65,000 to $75,000. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded. Jencap also offers a range of benefits and programs, based on eligibility, which currently include but are not limited to; comprehensive health care coverage, a 401k plan, and tuition reimbursement.
