REPORTS TO: Controller

SUPERVISES: Accounting Staff

FLSA: Exempt


BASIC FUNCTION:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reporting duties performed by the Finance department. Responsible for supervision of two or more members of the accounting staff ensuring regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly and yearly preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, which include monthly Board Package, Mortgage Lending Retail branch P&L report, and internal reports to various departments.
  • Manage accounting team of 3-5 full time employees
  • Preparation of quarterly MBFRF report
  • Manage monthly closing process, including reviewing reconciliations and analysis of related accounts.
  • Oversee processing of accounts payable function
  • Review and approve accounting staff journal entries
  • Work cross functionally with various departments to ensure proper treatment of general ledger transactions
  • Assist Controller in coordination and preparation of internal and external audits
  • Coordinate, develop and update written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process
  • Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements as needed, to ensure integrity of the financial reporting process and controls
  • Provide back up support for payroll and commission functions
  • Communicates regularly with managers from parent company to align accounting procedures
  • Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 3+ years: Supervisory experience.
  • 2-4 years: Mortgage / Banking experience.
  • Auditing experience a plus.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
  • Software skills: Fiserv/Prologue, Encompass, and LeaseQuery.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and able to meet deadlines timely.
  • Strong communication skills requiring professionalism whether in person, by phone or electronically through emails.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to effectively communicate verbally. The employee must be able to effectively operate a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-15 pounds. Vision abilities is required by this job include close vision.
