SCOPE:
As an Accountant for UAIC, your position will involve reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing, and analyzing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The accountant will play a key role in providing financial insights, supporting decision-making processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company. This role also includes collaborating with internal teams to streamline financial processes, conducting audits, and identifying areas for cost-saving measures. Additionally, the accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration as needed.

DUTIES:
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to property and casualty insurance transactions.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management and regulatory purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in accounting and finance.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification is a plus.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with training and supervising accounting staff is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong ethics and integrity in handling confidential financial information.
