Job Title: Pathologist Physician.

Operations/Scheduling:

- Provide pathology physician services onsite at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System

- Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

- 1.0 FTE (minimum 80 hours every two weeks)

- Provide coverage during vacations, holidays, and sick leave to ensure continuous services

- Adhere to clinic schedules and be available to perform services at scheduled times

 

Qualifications:

- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States

- Board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology

- ACLS/BLS certified

- Technically proficient in required skills and able to provide care meeting national standards

- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently

- Meet facility credentialing and privileging requirements

- Complete all required VA training courses

 

Responsibilities:

- Provide the full range of pathology services at the VA facility

- Examine specimens and analyze clinical information to diagnose diseases

- Communicate test results to providers and patients per VA policies

- Participate in quality improvement activities and meetings

- Attend staff meetings as required

- Complete quality management/performance improvement documentation

- Follow all patient safety policies and procedures

- Provide discharge instructions coordinated with ongoing care

- Document care in the VA electronic medical record system

- Supervise and educate health professions trainees as needed

- Maintain CMEs and current board certification
