Job DescriptionJob Description

SUMMARY: This position prepares quote from a list of materials, an elevation takeoff or project plans and specs. They will interact with internal and external customers, and make technical and financial decisions as they pertain to the project. This position will also interact on the phone and should have knowledge of Pella product lines and pricing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans, specifications, and other project documentation
  • Works effectively with internal customers to ensure quotes are delivered promptly and accurately.
  • Able to communicate alternative recommendations to internal and external customers effectively to produces the best possible outcomes when needed.
  • Answer technical questions regarding product and installation applications as well as recommend solutions when asked.
  • Proactively share learning and new best practices with team members and internal partner teams.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Familiar with construction methods and materials
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and the details contained in the blueprint.
  • Communication skills: written, verbal and listening.
  • Attention to detail
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Adaptability to daily changing situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word. Will be required to develop proficiency in Pella proprietary software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university within the Construction industry or an Associate’s Degree within the Construction industry and a minimum of two years construction or estimating experience would be ideal but not a requirement.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Excellent verbal and written English language skills are required as well as good customer service skills (in person or via the phone). Must be able to present information, gather information, and respond to questions from customers, managers, co-workers and the general public.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth. Must be pro-active, self-motivated, and have a demonstrated ability to follow assignments through to completion. Attention to detail is required. Must be able to develop trust, respect, and confidence of customers, coworkers and managers. Must present a clean and neat physical appearance. Must be able to problem solve and think creatively and positively when faced with obstacles.
