Visa is seeking an experienced storyteller and public relations professional to join our global content team. Our ideal candidate has a 360 view of the global corporate communication function with a strong media relations background.

The Senior Manager will be an integral part of our global corporate communication team, staying up to date with current news and trends to identify storytelling opportunities for Visa’s inclusion in the media cycle. We are looking for a candidate who is a passionate and proactive communicator and an exceptional writer. You will bring with you experience in thought and implementation leadership- someone who knows their owned from their earned and has experience in customer journeys, and who gets as excited about a planning process as they do about big, bold, ideas.

 

This role calls for someone who can excel in a fast-paced, matrixed organization. Direct experience either in-house or at an agency, supporting a global communications function, is a must. The position reports to the Sr. Director of Corporate Storytelling and would ideally be based in San Francisco.

 

Responsibilities

· Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry analysts to secure positive coverage and media interview opportunities across traditional and digital media channels.

· Monitor and analyze data from various sources to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential threats for our brand.

· Collaborate with regional and cross-functional colleagues to create stories and other assets to tell the Visa story.

· Create global, integrated content strategies for earned, owned, paid, social and internal channels.

· Produce high-quality written materials such as blogs, Q&As, speeches, thought leadership articles, and social media assets, which reflect Visa's voice and tone.

· Manage media inquiries and interview requests and provide media training and coaching to Visa spokespeople.

· Write and edit press releases, media pitches, bylined articles, speeches, talking points, and other communication materials.

· Measure and report on the effectiveness of media relations activities and content performance.

· Manage multiple projects and deadlines with agility and efficiency, while collaborating with a diverse and talented team of communication professionals.

· Partner with senior executives and provide them with strategic counsel and support for media interviews and speaking engagements.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

· 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

· 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
· At least 8 years of experience in global corporate communications, media relations, or public relations, either in-house or at an agency.
· Proven experience in communications planning or strategy role, responsible for channel and campaign planning, and communication architecture.
· Proven track record of securing positive media coverage and building strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry analysts.
· Experience designing new processes, tools and ways of working to deliver integrated communications.
· Strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong leadership skills with experience working in and leading cross functional teams.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced and matrixed environment and can adapt to changing priorities and needs.
· Based in San Francisco or New York, or willing to relocate.



Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 133,000.00 to 192,950.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
