MWH Constructors (MWH), a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a Field Survey Technician to support multiple projects ranging from Water, Wastewater infrastructure projects, and technology manufacturing industry.

Essential Functions

  • Field Surveys:
    • Assist in conducting topographic, boundary, and construction surveys.
    • Operate survey instruments such as total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors.
    • Collect and record accurate field data and measurements.
    • Establish and maintain survey control points.
  • Data Analysis:
    • Process and analyze field data using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS).
    • Prepare and interpret survey reports, maps, and drawings.
    • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of survey data.
  • Technical Support:
    • Assist in the preparation of survey documents and reports.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to provide technical support.
    • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all survey activities comply with industry standards and regulations.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork.
    • Keep up-to-date with advancements in surveying technology and methodologies.
  • VDC Support:
    • Supporting project sites with drone flight requirements and associated deliverables. FAA Part 107 license required.
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Civil 3D software platforms.
    • Knowledge of construction principles and practices required.
    • Support on-site construction team efforts in the implementation of VDC/Digitial Delivery applications and practices such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
    • Read and understand contract documents and drawings.
    • Ability to create as-built drawings for underground utilities using Civil 3D that include point tables, alignments, spot elevations, etc.
    • Ability to record as-built data and maintain a working coordinate point database for the duration of the project.
    • High level understanding of US based coordinate systems (state plane, scale factors, EPSG codes, vertical datums, etc.).
    • Ability to troubleshoot coordinate errors.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in surveying, geomatics, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level II, or III certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in land surveying or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using survey instruments and software.
  • Experience with reality capture tools and practices (laser scanning, drone data capture, and/or point cloud generation).
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Civil 3D platforms.
  • Experience with Autodesk BIM 360 and ACC Docs applications.
  • Strong technical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and other normal business applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with customer facing experience.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather.
  • Physical fitness to perform fieldwork, including walking, standing, and carrying equipment.

Working Conditions

  • This role involves a combination of office work and fieldwork.
  • Travel to various jobsites is required.
  • May involve working extended hours to meet project deadlines.
